Sport and the Bribery Act 2010 Seminar - Thursday 16 June at DLA Piper, 3 Noble Street, London EC2V 7EE.
The Bribery Act 2010 ("the Act"), which is due to come into force on 1 July 2011, consolidates, extends and replaces the existing UK law in respect of bribery and corruption.
The business of sport has a strong international dimension, involving the award of valuable rights to host, broadcast and sponsor sporting events, often with governmental involvement, through processes that are susceptible to corruption. The connection between sport and corporate hospitality has also been in the spotlight, with fears that the Act could impact on long-established traditions of client entertainment. It is therefore of the upmost importance that those in the sector fully understand the requirements of the Act.
This seminar will provide you with a brief outline of the Act and an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the operation of the Act. We will also take a closer look at:
What impact the Act will have on the business of sport.
How the Act will affect hospitality at sporting events.
The steps you can take to ensure your organisation is not exposed to risks and what you can do to ensure you are fully compliant.
The seminar is free to attend and will be accredited by the Law Society for continuing professional development purposes.
