Following a public consultation completed a couple of weeks ago, the Italian Communication Authority (AGCOM) has published the new regulation concerning DTT linear media service providers, interactive/conditional access service providers, and network providers.
The new regulation is available here.
AGCOM accepted some observations submitted by operators and, as a result, the new regulation contains some elements of novelty as compared to the one previously in force, including for instance the ability for media service providers to keep the monthly programming registry only by electronic means and the removal of the requirement for media service providers to keep separate accounting books for each of the authorized channels. Also, as for the requirement to have a corporate capital, net of losses, not lower than Euro 6,200,000.00, AGCOM made it clear that such a requirement will be eliminated, as requested by some operators, at the time the analogue television is definitively switched off (i.e. second half of 2012).
